This provides a nice listing of some non-crunch exercise, with explanatory photos. Mr. Smith provides an outline at the beginning that his book is about other than 'spinal flexion' exercise, and he comments that the 23 exercises have 5 different levels. Looking through the book though, many of the exercises are variations of the plank and he commonly will only mention Level 3 and Level 4 for particular exercises.

This feels like a trial, to see if the subject will sell. The author obviously knows his stuff and gets results from it but the book is thin on detail, provides no progression plans and leaves out many levels. For one dollar it provides a couple of good ideas and I learned something from it. If it were more expensive I'd have given it two stars.

good book. good information. just follow the instructions
About the same as all books on this subject.
This is a great resource for health and fitness professionals. It shows the exercise and gives a brief explanation on how to do it. I agree with the author that core exercises are not about doing a bunch of exercises that require repeated spinal flexion but require whole body stabilization. Look forward to seeing other books by this author.
The exercises are good but no discussion of how often and what time frame or reps structure should be used
Basic exercises that will help build and strengthen your core. Anyone should see results with these basic exercises if keeping their form throughout.
Jimmy smith has written what must be a pilot edition of a future book. The exercises he describes and pictures are well done. His explanations are clear. I like the concept of difficulty levels for each exercise.

But, this looks like a trial balloon to see if Jimmy's approach will sell. There is so much more that could be included. There are difficulty levels not described. There are more quality core exercises that should be included.

I hope Jimmy takes the positive feedback, and develops a complete book of core exercises and the progression through the levels of difficulty for each laid out. He is well on his way.

The price of this trial balloon is only a dollar, and it is worth a dollar for the quality of work Jimmy as done on the exercises included. In the mean time, til Jimmy completes his book see, Simon Boulter's "Armored Core" for a similar, more complete work.

Go for it Jimmy. You have a good start.
I love the simplicity of reading this book. I was able to look at the pictures and read this very short description which was easy to apply very quickly. I use to have a membership at a really nice Gym that I loved called Life Time Fitness. The commute to the gym became unappealing and when my schedule got very busy it was more difficult to get to the gym which made me start to think about how much I was paying each month. This book will be very very helpful to me as I transition into creating my own exercise room. I love the fact that there are no exercise equipment involved in doing these exercises to me that is a huge plus. Having this book in my arsenal of exercise and fitness books and resources will be very useful in helping me to improve my core health.
